Spurs take Moersen from City Football Group as director of football operations | Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham have appointed Carlos Raphael Moersen as their first director of football operations, taking him from City Football Group, which oversees a stable of clubs including Manchester City.

Moersen, known as Rafi, will not join until before the summer transfer window because he is on gardening leave. He has spent more than a decade at CFG, serving most recently as director of football transactions.

Tottenham said Moersen would lead the club’s football administration, player care and training-ground operations, and that a major part of his job would involve overseeing the women’s setup.

The sporting director Johan Lange, said: “He was the outstanding candidate from a highly competitive process and brings a wealth of experience in this critical area of our football operation.”

Lange’s co-sporting director, Fabio Paratici, is leaving for Fiorentina at the end of the January window. Dan Lewindon will join Spurs as performance director next month.
