West Ham are close to signing the Venezuela winger Keiber Lamadrid and plan to keep Callum Wilson, who has been in talks to leave five months after joining.
Wilson scored West Ham’s winner at Tottenham on Saturday after coming on as a late substitute. The 33-year-old was understood to have grown dissatisfied with life under Nuno Espírito Santo and had been seeking a new challenge but the club, five points adrift of safety, intend to hold on to him.
Attacking reinforcements have arrived this month in Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe and Lamadrid is in line to offer another option. The 22-year-old, who made his Venezuela debut as a substitute in November in their most recent game, plays in his homeland for Deportivo La Guaira. Lamadrid has made most of his appearances on the left.
A key transfer element that remains to be resolved at West Ham is the future of Lucas Paquetá. The Brazilian wants a move to Flamengo, who had an opening bid of €35m (£30.3m) rejected, but West Ham would like him back on loan for the rest of the season. It is understood Flamengo are not minded to agree to that, reasoning they can wait and buy him more cheaply in the summer.
